Skilak Lake sits on the Skilak Wildlife Refuge which is part of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. There are two boat ramps on the lake. One is located at the Upper Skliak Lake Campground and the other is at the Lower Skilak Lake Campground. Fish Species found in the lake include Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Sockeye Salmon, Dolly Varden, and Whitefish. The best fishing on the lake is done by boat, but there are many good spots for fishing on the shore.
